Два двохсимвольних кодакоди, що визначають основні використані при обміні набори графічних символів ([[Додаток J]]). Позиції 26-27 визначають набір G0, позиції 28-29 — G1. Якщо набір G1 не було використано, позиції 28-29 заповнюються пробілами.
Обов’язкове.
Двохсимвольний код, який характеризує абетку назви, використовуваної як основна назва, або зведена назва серіального видання. Стосується абетки, якою назва наводиться на джерелі опису, а не набору символів запису.
Наступні коди рекомендовано використовувати в UNIMARC. Коди ISO були розроблені в стандарті ISO 15924, але ще не впроваджені в UNIMARC.
